I haven't posted in 8 months because life is getting in the way of my knitting time.

I just recently started knitting again, because I lost my knitting mojo. I'm still working on the February Lady's Sweater and the Through The Loop mystery sock. I hope to finish them before 2010. I started 2 pairs of socks and will post more about those later.

Took a weekend trip to Washington, DC, I really enjoyed site seeing. I didn't have enough time to really see DC, so I plan to go again sometime next year.

This is how much progress I've made on the February Lady Sweater. I plan to knit another 2 inches because I want it to stop at my hips. I still a little confuse about knitting the sleeves, so I'm going to Knitty City to get some advise. I really like Knitty City. The people who work there are so friendly and helpful. I still have to purchase buttons.

This is Through The Loop Mystery Sock. This is the second time I started this socks. The previous socks were too big for me, so I ripped them back and started again. The yarn is Shi Bui, it's nice to knit, but the real test is after you wash it. That's one reason why I don't buy Blue Moon Sock's That Rock anymore, after a few washes it starts to felt.

I bought this the other night from Knitty City. One of my favorite coats is the same color as the green yarn. It's double knit, which I have never attempted before. I plan to start this after I finish the Koolhaas hat. This should be an interesting knit.

I'm on a hat making kick. I cut off all my hair, I'm sporting a teeny afro. I plan to keep it this way for a while because it's so convenient. Although I need to get a shape-up from the barber.

The first hat I made was a Truffle, using Frog Tree Alpaca yarn. I winded-up giving it to my sister. She saw it and fell in love, she pointed out that it was perfect for her large head. The yarn is so soft I plan on getting more. I hope to get a picture of this hat soon. I'm currently working on Koolhaas. I'm using Mission Falls 1824. I like the pattern. it was easy to memorize and I get to work on cabling without using a needle. I plan to use up most of my wool yarn making different hats.

I'm still working on Rusted Root. Finally working on the sleeves. I chose to work on the sleeves and then continue to work on the body.

I really hate posting without pictures, but by the time I get home from work the sun is gone. I hate taking pictures using the flash or camera settings, I find it takes away from the actual color.

I'm back to working on the Rusted Root which I started sometime last year. I tried to take pictures this weekend, but I was so busy that I just couldn't find the time. This project is so mindless. Once you memorize the lace pattern it goes fast. When I first started this project I was making the wrong size so I had to frog it and go down a size. This was very frustrating and that's how it winded up in the UFO pile.

I finished the baby sweater I was working on. All that's left is to join the sleeves to the body. This was a fast and fun knit. I would definitely make this sweater again. I will give more details about it in another post.

Happy New Year!!!!

2009 is here and I'm so excited. I've learned so many things about myself last year. I started a new job last year in an industry I've never worked in before.

One thing I plan to change in 2009 is not to start too many projects. I will only have 2 or 3 projects going at one time. I have so many UFO.

I finally finished Twisted Flower by Cookie A.

One sock is bigger than the other. As I was finishing the second sock I realize that the foot is too large for me so I went down a needle size. I would definitely make this again.

That's it for now. I'll be back with more projects and finished items soon.

WOW! It's been a whole year since I posted. I had a few ups and downs in life, but is seems everything is working itself out. I hope to post more.

I'm still knitting, currently working on the February lady sweater. I got the pattern from Ravelry. I should take a picture of my progress. It's slow going, I had to rip it out and start over because I was making the wrong size and I was missing a stitch. This is my first sweater and I like this pattern.. I'm also still working on Cookie A.'s Twisted Flower. I hope to have that finish by the end of the month. Also, started Through the Loop's mystery sock for Socktober from Ravelry.

It's been a while since I posted, but my life is really crazy right now. My job is currently downsizing, because of outsourcing. They decided to outsource about a year ago, but this didn't effect anyone's job right away. Apparently the salary that they were offering the people who they outsourced the work to wasn't enough. They took the training and then moved on to other companies who offered them more pay doing the same work. So as a result of this outsourcing the orders started to get backlogged and clients started to get pissed, which resulted in them going to other companies that could get the job done. This lead to loss of revenue for the company and you know what happens next. It started with the sales people at the being of the fiscal year (March 2007) . A total of 140 sales people where let go. The group I supported started out with 20 people and was down to 3 by the middle of September. I just knew it was coming my way sooner or later. It finally happened on September 19th. My supervisor called me in to give me the bad news/good news, my last day is September 28th. I received a package which consist of 16 weeks of pay, 6 months worth of health insurance payments (which I could opt to keep or use towards the health insurance coverage) and Career Transition Services (resume writing and interview skills). In addition, I'm also eligible for unemployment benefits starting October 1st. So for the past 2 weeks I've been home trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. This is an opportunity for me to make a career change but I'm not sure which direction I want to go.

On the knitting front, I joined a KAL on Ravelry for Mr Greenjeans. I'm using Cascade 220 in Pink Rose Heather. I haven't cast on yet because the patterns has an error and I'm not quite sure how many stitches to cast on.

I finally finished the Jaywalkers.

Pattern: JayWalker by Grumperina
Yarn: Regia Canadian Color 4732
Needles: Lace Addi Turbo 47"
size: US #1 and US #2

I'm also giving yarn away to any takers. I don't want to hold onto it anymore because I definitely don't plan on using it. If you're interested email me at smkfreeshawn at gmail dot com.
