It's been a long time since I posted an update. Still working on the Viveka sweater for my daughter. I'm currently on the second sleeve. I've been everywhere getting ideas on how to block it because it's curling. I don't have carpet so one option is to pin it to my bed but, how will I sleep with a wet sweater drying on my bed. The other option is to pin it to my cardboard cutting board I use for sewing. I don't use it to sew at least it came in handy for something else.

I recently bought a pattern from Purlsoho and it was a waste of money. The pattern cost me $7.50 and it was something I could have figured out myself. I don't know what I was thinking, it was the yarn. I bought Blue Sky Worsted hand dyes 50% Alpaca/50% Merino. This yarn is lovely, it's so lovely I didn't even take a picture I just started knitting until the hat was done. I will post pics later.

I also bought some yarn from Knitpicks and Elann.

Still working on the sweater for my daughter. I'm finally on the front piece, working on the body. I switced to Continential knitting and it's so much faster. I don't know why I haven't done this a long time ago. I don't think I will have it finished for Christmas, so I'm going to buy her an iPod shuffle and send it in a large box. She will be so surprised because, she keeps saying it's so cute but she doesn't need one because she is in the car all the time. It will come in handy when she goes back to school.
Shawn
I'm still working on the sweater for my daughter. I won't call it a Christmas gift because, it took me one whole week to knit the back. I'm going to start knitting Continential because I can knit faster eventhough I'm still new at this form.

I've put all my other knitting to the side for this one. I'm hoping to finish it soon.
Shawn
It seems like I'm only posting on Saturdays but, that's because I'm on Jury Duty. When I get home at nights I feels so tired that I can't even think.

This is a nice picture of my Shedir hat, check it out.

and another pic of my Shedir

This is a hat I made for my son.

I purchased this yarn (Cascade 220) to make my daughter the Viveka sweater pattern I printed from Knitty.com. The colors are very similiar to the hat I made for my son. She saw the hat and liked the color combination.

I haven't been able to post in a while because I'm on Jury Duty. By the time I get home I'm exhausted for the back and forth in the Courtroom. I now understand why people who have served as a Juror try to avoid it at all cost. It is so draining. The good thing about it is I get to do a lot of knitting.

I've finished my neckwarmer but, I haven't had a chance to post pictures. I still need to make a flower pins for it. I also finished the Fetching fingerless gloves, I'll be making more of these. I want to learn to make gloves with half fingers. I'm almost finished with my Shedir hat. I'm at the point of decreasing. I started a new pair of Jaywalkers using Lorna's Laces self striping made for Purlsoho.

I borrow most of the knitting books from the Library and make copies of the patterns I want to make. I do this because my funds are limited and purchasing some of these books can be expensive. I usually purchase them when I can afford it. I just got Wrap Style and will definitely puchase this book. I like all the patterns.
Shawn
These are a few of the items I'm currently working on.

This is the Garn Studio Neckwarmer. I'm using Drops Alapaca, which I don't think I will use again because it sheds. I hate yarn that sheds, I love the fact that the Alapaca is very soft.

This is my Log Cabin Blanket folded. I get bored with this quickly so I try to do at least one color a week.

This is Fetching. I got the pattern from here. I used the same yarn suggested in the pattern in Black. I like making these because it took me 2 hrs. to knit one hand. I will definitely make more of these.

This is a hat pattern I got from here it's called Shedir. This is the most difficult hat I have ever made. I used the same yarn as the pattern suggested (Rowan Calmer in Brown)

This is my Swallowtail Shawl. The pattern is from Interweave Knits Fall 2006 issue. I'm using Jo Sharp Alpaca Silk Georgette. Like the Alapaca it's also very soft but, it doesn't shed.

This has been a very busy week for me. I had so much to do at work on Monday and Tuesday that I couldn't even knit (not even during lunch). Wednesday I reported for Jury Duty and was picked for a civil case that same morning. The trial starts on Monday, I'm hoping they will come to some type of agreement and the trial will end before Thanksgiving week.

This morning I lost the socks I was knitting on the train. This lady decided she was going to squeeze herself in the seat, so I had to put my knitting away. I think I dropped it when I pulled out a magazine and I never realized it. I wonder if the MTA has a lost and found. I feel like I'm mourning the loss of something near and dear to my heart. I was just starting to enjoy making these socks. It's going to take me a few days to get back into the swing of knitting. That's why I hate losing things.
Shawn
I'm working on the second foot of this. This is the first finish foot

I lost this sock

Today I changed my phone number. It's a big deal to me because I've had the same phone number for the past 8 years. I have friends who move all over the place and they know one thing for sure they can always reach me. I changed my number because of my job. I thought your employer should only call you at home in case of an emergency. This is the second phone call I received from them within the past month regarding non-sense. The first call, I called out sick and I received a call to see if I was coming in the next day (silly right). Then last night I received a call asking me about a spare laptop. Couldn't these thing have wait til the next day? Well that's now water under the bridge.

Today is also my first day of seeking new employment. I'm looking for a new job for a number of reasons.

1. I'm bored
2. No Challenge
3. Silly phone calls to my home
4. No annual review or raise
5. No stability or job security
Shawn
I was able to get a lot of my neckwarmer done. When I started it over I realized two things I was doing wrong, the first reason, I was doing garter instead of reverse stockinette and the second, the needle size. I was using a size 9(US) and the pattern called for a size 6(US). I was wondering why mine looked nothing like the picture and I'm using the same yarn. I'm more than half way done with it today.

Looks like my days of knitting while at work is numbered. I'm in the process of looking for a new job. I basically don't do anything at work. I'm suppose to be the group administrative assistant but, the group is self-sufficent. I work on projects that last about 1-2 hours a day. I'm bored and the position doesn't pay enough so it's time for me to go.
Shawn
First, I finished my Jaywalker socks before the end of Socktoberfest. I'm happy about that.

I also came very close to finishing this neckwarmer.

I got all the way to the ruffles and realized I was suppose to do the edges in reverse stockinette and I was doing garter. The perfectionist in my made me rip it back and start all over. That's what i'll be knitting at work this week. Hopefully I don't have any projects to work on.
Shawn
Recently I have found myself reading lots of blogs about knitting and it's inspired me to go back to my own blog. I don't only knit, I also crochet, quilt (beginner) and sew. I wish I had named my Blog something else like "She Who Crafts". I think I'm going to check if that name is taken.

I want to discuss my quilt I'm working on. I was reading the Purlsoho forum and came across a quilt someone who works at the store was making. It was beautiful, the colors and the design. So I decided to make one for myself. I started about a month ago and today I finally got around to appliquing the center on some of the pinwheels. I will take pictures tomorrow, because when I remembered to take pictures it was already dark out.

I'm also working on my first pair of Jaywalkers. I'm doing them on circulars. Next I plan on learning how to knit toe-up and short row heels. Wish me luck!
Shawn
These are some of the dishcloths I've finished in the past few weeks. I was on a dishcloth kick for a while. I was bored with knitting and needed something to motivate myself.

I made these for my sister (she just had her kitchen remodeled).

I made a set of these I really like this pattern.

Shawn
Look how far I've gotten on the other foot of my first Socks.

I can't believe how far I've gotten. I'd plan to do 2 sets every day, but I was able to knit at work on Monday and Tuesday because there was a Sales Training seminar at work both days and my boss had to attend. Everyone was so bored with at the training, I'm so happy I didn't have to attend.

I've been working on my vest. I had to frog it because I miss read the pattern. I don't think I will knit another Paton's pattern, they are poorly written and I had to read it several times before I understood what to do.

I will post pics of the vest soon.
Shawn
Check out my first sock.

I'm starting the other foot tomorrow. I love how it came out. It has really inspired me to make more socks. Now I know why so many people are addicted to making socks. It feels so good on my feet.

I'm also working on a vest. I started this vest at the same time as my sock but I put it down because I got bored.
Shawn
I finished my the SNB Cabled Newsboy cap for my daughter. Her's came out better than mine. Mine is too big, I tried frogging it and remove some of the rows but that didn't seem to work. I think I might remove a few more rows.

My job just blocked everyone from checking personal mail and going to any site that has chat or seems like it has chat. That really sucks because I like to check my mail during lunch just to see what's going on. Now I spend my lunch reading the messages from the different knitting yahoo sites I joined.

I'm going to start working on my vest again. I started it about 2 months ago and put it down to start socks and the SNB Cabled Newsboy cap. I love the yarn I bought for the vest, I put it down because I don't like knitting with large needles (I'm using size 13).

I'm back to working on my bag. I was hoping to finish it before the end of the month, I only have 2 days left.
Shawn
I finally finished my French Market bag. It didn't turn out so great. I need to add more rows, it was so shallow it can't hold a thing. I don't think I'll be making another one of these anytime soon.

Currently, I'm making another SNB Cabled Newsboy Cap for my daughter. I'm using Catalina 100% baby Alpaca (which I am in love with), it knits up soft and warm. I love the color, it's a deep red. I will post pics when I'm done.

I'm almost done with my first sock (only one foot so far). I was getting a little bored with the sock until I turned the heel and realized I'm almost done.
Shawn
Hey, two days in a row, I'm doing good!

I'm dreading tomorrow, my apartment is being painted. I live in a 2 bedroom apt. in NYC, it's small but I have accummulated quite a few things. The managment had the nerve to tell me to put everything in the center of the room like the rooms are big. I'm so not looking forward to tomorrow.

On to happier things... I went to 3 LYS today. I bought several 5 skeins of Patons Classic Wool Merino (for felting), 2 skeins of Mauch Chunky (more felting), 2 skeins of Catalina Chunky 100% Baby Alpaca (from my new favorite LYS, Knitty City), 1 skein of Artful yarns Fable, 2 skeins of Filatura Di Crosa Millefili Fine and 1 skein of Rowan Summer Tweed (to make a bag from my new Bag book).

I had to do something to cheer myself up.

I didn't end with the yarn either I bought 25 Bags to Knit by Emma King. I already chose a pattern and bought the yarn. I really like this book.

My favorite (Knitty City) LYS is now selling Noni bag patterns, I think I'm going to get one.
Shawn
Wow! I haven't been here for a while. I just finished a felted hat with a brim. I really like this hat, when I was done knitting it up I thought it was way too big (it fit over my son head all way to past his shoulders and he's 12). Once I finish felting it I love, love, love it. I'm giving it away to my sister and my co-worker asked me to make her one to go with her buttonhole bag I made her, she is going to match. I used 2 and a 1/4 skein of Lamb's Pride bulky weight.

I'm presently working on the French Market Bag (I love felting) and a sock.

I'm trying to stay consisting with adding posts to my blogger but some days I am so busy that I just don't remember. I love looking at other knitting bloggers because they are well put together.
Shawn
I'm still working on that daggone sock, I haven't even started the other foot yet. I think I might have to frog it because it looks kinda large. I just realized the pattern I'm using calls for size 0 and 1 and I'm using 2 and 3. I think I'm going to frog it this weekend.

I bought some Koigu while on in a LYS. I like the colors. I've heard such good things about Socks That Rock (STR) I might have to breakdown and invest the $18.00. I realize that I have a problem. I'm spending all my extra money on yarn!
Shawn

Today was a good day. Look how far I've gotten with my sock. I know it's not much but this is a lot considering I only knit about 2 hrs a day.

I also got a surprise in the mail today. I ordered sugar and cream cotton yarn to make some dishcloths and bathmittens for my friends and they're here. Check them out. I am so excited.

Shawn
This is the start of my first sock. I'm uising Addi Turbo 12" circular needles size 2 and 3 US. I tired to use the dpn but I just can seem to get the hang of it. The saleslady in my LYS suggested I used these instead. The yarn is Regia, which I found in the same LYS for $4.50 on sale.
Shawn
This is my first buttonhole bag. It is smaller than I thought. Also the buttonhole is not big enough. It was my first try.

This is a picture of my second buttonhole bag. I am using the buttonhole variation on felted bag kal yahoo group. I'm making this for a co-worker, using Mauch Chunky Rhubarb and Black. So far I've used 1.5 skeins of the black and just started using the Rhubarb. I will post pics when I'm finished.

I think I'll use Lamb's Pride wool on my next buttonhole bag, because this yarn is very hairy.
